meteodata slight scaledown...
Recently, due to increasing costs in IT infrastructure and maintenance, the cloud provider I use to host my servers, have announced steep price increases, of up to 25%.
This has forced me to make the difficult decision to slightly scale down the meteodata infrastructure, in order to keep the service free for everyone.
In practice, this means that the most cpu-heavy processes, NWP (HARMONIE, HARMONIE EPS, IFS and ENS) will be run on fewer CPUs. To keep update frequency and stability as high as possible, fewer forecast fields will be calculated..
Note: The scaledown will not affect Observations, Radar, Lightning or Climate data, which will continue to be updated as before.
meteodata.dk is a free service, and I want to keep it that way. I currently pay for servers myself, but as the site grows, costs are increasing.
Furthermore, maintaining and improving the site takes time, which is self-funded as well, amounting to several hours per week.
